To say that we were excited about this one would be an understatement, as 20 years after we first met him, The Dude now abides in 4K. This disc bowled us over, with a native 4K presentation that’s HDR enhanced, and a righteous new DTS:X soundtrack. Want to know more of what we think of it? Our review is over the line here.

Solo: A Star Wars Story
Release date: October 3

It may have had a slightly tumultuous time getting made, but this origin story of Han Solo ended up a whole lot of fun. It’s come to 4K Ultra HD via a pure 4K transfer with HDR enhancement, and totes a Dolby Atmos sound mix. Here’s our original movie review, right about here.

Skyscraper
Release date: October 31

Big dumb action flicks and Dwayne Johnson go together like bread and butter, and if you like your BDAFs huge and bombastic, then this one definitely fits the bill. Essentially it’s The Rock does Die Hard, with a whole lot of The Towering Inferno mixed in. What’s not to love?! This one comes to 4K Ultra HD with a shiny new upscaled 2K transfer bolstered by Dolby Vision and HDR, while all the whopperous sound thumps down in Dolby Atmos. Check out our Skyscraper movie review here.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Release date: October 31

The big one for many this month, Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi game-changer landed on 4K via a remastering that was apparently overseen by Christopher Nolan. This is great news for those who love pure 4K transfers (with HDR), but not necessarily for those who like object-based sound. Nolan hates the latter it seems, so this one comes with two different DTS:HD Master Audio 5.1 mixes – a new remix, and the original six-track audio tweaked for DTS.
